Rolex introduced the Rolex Submariner in the year 1953 as the first water-resistant Rolex timepiece. The first water-resistant Rolex Submariner was able to withstand a depth of 100 metres, which approximately a massive 330 feet under the surface of water. Few years later, the water resistance ability was strengthened by its patented triple-seal Triplock winding crown, which made it capable of withstanding depths of up to 300 meters (approximately 1000 feet under the surface of water).
