Diamond Color
For the first time ever, a “D” is a perfect score. Color, one of the four C’s, characterizes a precise science in valuing one factor of a Diamond’s worth. According to the EGL (European Gemological Laboratory), Diamonds have a grade based on their Color, which ranges from D to Z (from the least color to the most color). The less traceable visible Color a Diamond possesses, the higher the Diamond will be priced.
Only an expert gemologist would be able to recognize Colors in Diamonds graded D to F. These Diamonds are extremely rare and very expensive.
The majority of Melrose Jewelry’s jewelry collection contains Diamonds with a Color grade of G to H. At this level, the Diamonds are nearly Colorless; in other words, the color of the diamond is almost completely invisible to the naked eye. G to H Diamonds are visually clean, clear, and striking – representing an outstanding value to the customer.
Diamonds graded at an I to J color may have noticeable Coloration, slightly detracting from the Diamond’s capability to sparkle brightly.
K to Z-graded Diamonds display more color than diamonds grading anywhere in the range from D to J. These diamonds are not carried by Melrose Jewelers.
